The first Floppy Hats were designed and hand made by Fonssagrives-Tiel in 1964. The hat designs were licensed to Mapcaps Company, who sold them to Bloomingdales. The hats were featured in the February 1965 Life Magazine, modeled by Vicky Tiel and Mia Fonssagrives (photo on left)
